Lushootseed

pronunciation: pas təd

word analysis: from pastəducid Boston as the first group of permanent white settlers in the area were from Boston

Lushootseed: The language of the Skagit Nisqually, and other tribes of Puget Sound, an Introduction: Book I states that the first group of white people to settle permanently in the area were from Boston, but does not name the settlers. It appears that the members of the Denny Party, which is generally considered the founders of the city of Seattle, were not from Boston.
