What is this website/wiki for?
A: The purpose of the Lushootseed Wiki site is to provide an online dictionary of Lushootseed words and related encyclopedia entries. The goal is to define every Lushootseed word ever recorded in Lushootseed, English and other languages of the world.
Why are "Lushootseed" and "dxʷləšucid" used for the language names?
Unfortunately, there is no word in English or "Lushootseed" that adequately encompasses all of the language varieties that linguists consider to be part of the same language. The use of Lushootseed and dxʷləšucid is intended as encompassing terms. They are not intended to emphasize any dialect or variety over any other.
Are Whulshootseed/Twulshootseed words included in this website?
Yes. Where possible, the aim of this website is to clearly identify words according to dialect.
How do I find a word?
