1. The twenty-third letter of the dxʷləšucid alphabet, pronounced as a voiceless lateral alveolar fricative.

   • The pronunciation is made as though holding the tongue in place at the "l" sound in the word "clay".

   Examples: ɫabac, ɫuɫaɫlil, tiʔiɫ

usage notes: When written as ɫ, this letter is called the "barred l", and when written as ɬ, it is called "looped l." On this LutWik, only the ɫ symbol is used to avoid confusion.
